Co-existence Mode
A transitional configuration that allows a WhatsApp Business API number to run on both Cloud API and On-Premise API simultaneously during migration.
How it works
Co-existence mode was introduced by Meta to help businesses migrate from On-Premise API to Cloud API without downtime. In this mode, a single phone number is registered on both platforms, and you can gradually shift traffic from On-Prem to Cloud API. Incoming messages are delivered to both webhook endpoints during the transition period, while outbound messages can be sent from either platform. This approach eliminates the risky cutover moment that previously required businesses to go offline during migration. Once migration is complete, businesses decommission their On-Prem infrastructure and operate solely on Cloud API.
